YFM invests in Scottish resource planning firm Cooper Software

YFM Equity Partners (YFM) has made an investment from its Buyout Fund II in Cooper Software, a Scottish specialist in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Founded in 2005 by Chief Executive Frank Cooper, the company provides products, consulting services and support to approximately 300 customers worldwide.

Dalgety Bay-based Cooper Software has grown to employ more than 70 people and is expected to reach £6.7million in revenue this year.

The company has strengthened its board of directors over the past six months, with the recruitment of experienced IT services and software specialists Jonathan Dunn, as managing director of the IFS division, and David Greenlees as chief commercial officer. .

Andy Thomas, YFM Partner, commented: “With the growth of the global ERP market accelerating as companies turn to technology to generate more value, the sector has enormous potential as companies seek to maximize the benefits of digital transformation through greater automation, technologies and data intelligence, as well as protecting against some of the modern challenges presented by the pandemic, such as remote working.

“Cooper Software has demonstrated its ability to truly understand its customers’ business operations and, in partnership with IFS and NetSuite, implement industry-leading ERP software to create tailored solutions.

“The addition of its own ProScope product has also shown the company’s potential to develop modern, state-of-the-art software tailored to its target industries, and we believe there is a real global opportunity to target new international markets with plans already underway to expand into Germany.”

Cooper commented, “As we seek to maximize opportunities, the integration of YFM is a key part of this strategy, giving us the flexibility and backup that will allow us to execute our Cooper Software growth plan both significantly and quickly.”

YFM’s investment team included Andy Thomas, Laura Sisson and Ian Waterfield, while Steve Harrison will join Cooper Software’s board.
