All about Government Help to Grow £5,000 scheme to buy software
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak launched the Help to Grow: Digital program in January to help companies invest in software that can help boost business.
What is Help for Growth: Digital?
The UK government-backed program consists of two parts:
Targeted financial support, if your business is eligible, worth up to £5,000 to cover the costs of purchasing approved digital technologies
What help can I get?
The Help to Grow: Digital website offers free, unbiased tips, advice, and tools to help you identify your business’s digital technology needs, available software products, and how to adopt them.
It also offers financial assistance to purchase digital technology. If you are eligible, you can access a discount of up to 50% off the cost of purchasing approved software, worth up to £5,000, from the Help to Grow website: Digital .

What kind of software can I get?
Discounts will be available for approved software that helps build customer relationships, increase sales, manage accounts and finances digitally. Sage and Quickbooks are among the software available under the program.
Additional software products, including e-commerce software, are not yet available as part of the program, but should soon be available for Help to Grow: Digital discounts.
Who is eligible?
The financial rebate is available to UK businesses that meet the four eligibility criteria below:
- Your company must have a registered office in the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland) and be registered with the relevant Companies House or be a company on the Financial Conduct Authority’s register of mutuals.
- Your business must have been active for more than 12 months prior to the application date and have an incorporation date of at least 365 days prior to the application date.
- Your company must have a total of between 5 and 249 employees.
- Your company must purchase the approved software for the first time.
Eligible companies will only receive one rebate for the purchase of an approved software product up to a maximum of £5,000 (excluding VAT).
The financial discount covers 12 months of base costs of approved software products, excluding VAT.
